چکیده

The most important necessity for life is water. Shortage of clean & fresh drinking water leads to suffering. This is mainly contributed by generation of sewage waste mixed with the water bodies, due to unplanned urbanization and has largely contributed to the causing severe water pollution. Pollutants discharged in waste waters can be toxic to aquatic life and cause natural waters to be unfit to use as potable water. The main sources of water pollution can be attributed to discharge of untreated sanitary and industrial wastes. In this work, parameters such as temperature, pH, conductivity, turbidity, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (B.O.D), Chemical oxygen demand (C.O.D), total solids, T.S.S and TDS have been studied, for Municipal waste water collected from Visakhapatnam, in different seasons. The studies show a decrease in the values of the effluent.

Effect of different ratios of municipal solid waste compost on growth parameters and yield of Marigold (Calendula officinalis Moench.) and Daisy (Bellis Perennis L.).

In a country like Iran, where soil organic matter is less than 1% and in most cases even less than 0.5 %, Municipal solid waste (MSW) is a permanent and inexpensive source of organic matter. Various experiments have indicated that applications of compost improve plant health, yield and nutritional quality. However, the quality of the compost determines the growth and the development of plants. ...
